Music composed and conducted by Patrick Gowers A BBC Television Production
The BBC continued making costume drame throughout the 1970s and well into the 1990s. Indeed they still make some excellent drama today. This production was far more lavish than the preceding production of twelve years past. Technical quality was improved and more locations were used giving the production greater pace, and a movie-like quality. The production was nominated for two BAFTA awards, and won the award for best original television music.
